Sitting Room

This is our "happy place", it is the heart of the cottage.  It's where you can all be together to relax and enjoy each others' company.

The room is quite spacious, with the sofa and chairs sitting comfortably in-front of the ingle-nook fireplace with its log-effect gas fire.

We love sitting here, talking about the day's adventures, watching television or playing games around the coffee table.

At the far end of the sitting room is a great space for children to safely play in, which leads to the patio.

The Patio

On a warm summer's day, there is nothing better than sitting here, enjoying fresh strawberries (the ones from Page's Farm Shop are amazing) and a glass of prosecco.

This little area catches the sunshine, and as it's protected from the wind, it's truly delightful.

The bench can seat three people, but when we have more guests we bring the dining chairs out here.  During inclement weather the bench cushion needs to come indoors, as do any dining chairs.

If you smoke, please do so here and dispose of cigarette ends responsibly.

The Dining Kitchen

This is the hub of our home, it leads to all other areas of the cottage.

There is practically everything you will need in the kitchen, and it's great to sit around the table and enjoy good food and company.

To enhance your dining experience, we have selected some of the finest tableware, including Denby plates and dishes and LaRochere Bee glassware.

Another little extra that we have provided is the Brita filter tap, this gives you purer drinking water whenever you want.

The Office

When you really cannot leave work for a week, this room is simply perfect.

With its colonial desk, comfortable office chair, palm plant, and other office facilities, you'll still have that holiday feeling even when deep in emails.

The room is only small, but it's quiet and a great place to escape for a short while.

There is a printer in here that you can use, we do however ask that you make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of ink and paper.  Please put money in the trust box to the right of the desk.

The Utility Room

You probably won't use this room a lot, but it's nice to know that it's there when you need it.

A masterpiece in fitting a lot into a very small space!

Here you will find the washing, machine, tumble drier, boiler, clothes airer, ironing board, waste bin and cleaning products.

Instructions for the use of the main household equipment can be found on our "Guidance" page.

Most importantly, remember that you are on holiday.  Whilst we ask that you respect our house, you have paid for someone to clean it after you leave.

Stairs & Landing

Not really a room, but we want to mention a few things about this space:

We love some of the pieces of art on the walls, especially our collection of Sid Dickens Memory Blocks above the stairs.  These come from Canada but are available to buy in the UK.  Please do not take any of the art off the walls.

The stairs leading from the kitchen can be quite steep as they return on themselves.  Be aware of this with young children or if you have mobility problems.

Main Bedroom

If you like a good night's sleep, this is the room for you.

The kingsize bed is handmade wrought metalwork with a deep, medium firmness, sprung mattress.  The Egyptian cotton bed linen and the velvet bedspread add to the luxury.  As with all our beds, there are three choices of the quilt: 4.5, 9.0 or 13 tog.

The centre cupboard is well equiped for all your clothing.  The other cupboards hold the house linen in one, and some of our own items in the other.

This bedroom is ensuite.

Second Bedroom

This room is my daughter's preferred bedroom when she stays.  The double bed is french style with the same deep medium firmness mattress we have in the main bedroom.  There is a dressing table and a good sized double wardrobe.  The stool and tray are ideal if you like breakfast in bed.

The room is quite small but there is space for a travel cot.

If you don't like to be woken up with the sunrise, the blackout blind makes this room perfect for you.

Third Bedroom

Another masterpiece of fitting a lot into a small space!  But this bedroom does have everything you will need for a comfortable stay.

The room is usually kept as a single room, but the bed has a trundle bed tucked beneath it that we occasionally use to create two single beds.  Both of these are medium firmness.

The wardrobe is an open wardrobe, designed and created by us - there's an image in the gallery.  This is complemented with a small chest of drawers.

There's a velux rooflight with a blind

This is a nice room, but it is small.

Main Bathroom

And now you are in for a pleasant surprise...

This bathroom boasts a double ended 24 jet wirlpool bath, with mood lighting.  Nothing better for relaxing after a good long walk in the countryside.  You'll love it!

The room also has an in-bath shower, toilet, wash basin and mirrorred cabinet.

The shower screen folds back to allow the bath to be shared.  Please, when taking a shower, ensure that the screen does not overhang the bath.  Excess water on the floor makes its way into the sitting room.

Ensuite

Leading off from the main bedroom, this small shower room is perfect for privacy.

There is a strong shower, toilet, wash basin and mirrorred cabinet.

Like the main bathroom, this room has a velux rooflight and is mechanically ventilated.

Outside Areas

The house is tucked away from the road and is sometimes difficult to find.  Location details are on the "Contacts" and "Guidance" pages.

The path leading to the house is to the left of the covered parking building.

The patio infront of the cottage is exclusively ours.  Other areas, inluding the grassed area, belong to the owners of the other houses in the barn conversion, and should not be used.

You have exclusive use if the two parking places identified on the location plan.  Although some guests prefer to use the road.
