Household Allergies

MINIMISING THE RISK

Have you ever stayed in holiday accommodation and spent the first day cleaning everything to enable you to cope with the dust mites?

With personal experience of struggling with household allergies, we have implemented a number of strategies designed to minimise the discomfort caused by dust mites in particular.

These include:

  • Removing all fitted carpets and replacing with easy-to-clean Kardean flooring. (There is a natural fibre rug in the sitting room which can be removed).

  • Regular steam cleaning of soft furnishings.

  • Using natural-fibre, tightly-woven bedding.

  • Using anti allergy mattress and pillow protectors.

  • Washing bedding and towels at 60 degrees, and regularly using dust mite laundry additives.

  • Maintaining bedroom temperature at 21 degrees.

  • Reducing moisture levels within the house by installing extract fans in the bathrooms, kitchen and utility room.

  • We love animals but regrettably cannot allow pets.
